Finding and Pitching HARO Opportunities

HARO (Help A Reporter Out) enables you to engage directly with journalists as a relevant expert source. HARO can help you tell your brand’s story while assisting a journalist in meeting their deadlines. Follow the instructions below to find HARO opportunities in the Cision Communications Cloud.

1. Click the Campaigns tab
2. Click the HARO tab
3. Select your first search criteria category. You can search by Keyword, Industry, or use both criteria
4. Click the blue plus sign to add additional search criteria if desired
5. Click Search
6. When searching by Industry, you can select as many industries as you would like by checking them
7. When using the Keyword search, enclose phrases in quotations
8. Click on each Opportunity from the search result set to see the Opportunity description, Contact Name, Outlet Name, and Deadline
9. Click Send Pitch. This will cause your default email system to open with prepopulated Pitch Recipient information.
10. Paste or type your pitch in the body of the email to respond to the Opportunity.
