Manually Adding News to Your Coverage

Modified on: Wed, 30 Nov, 2022 at 9:00 PM

To add a News Item to your Coverage,

1. Click News
2. Click Add To Coverage

A window will enable you to insert a link to the missed clip and associate a variety of data with it. Date and Headline are the only two required fields on this form. As a best practice, we recommend you fill in as many fields as possible to round out your news item. The benefit of doing so is that you can find the news item over time using the various related data you have entered.

Another best practice tip is to carefully consider how the article you are adding would be analyzed by our automatic tagging system, also known as the analytics profile. If you have added a link to a news item and the body of the names of the articles, some of your analytics profile tagging terms (such as your company name and/or competitors), the system will be able to automatically tag the added news item to all relevant categories. However, if your analytics profile tagging terms are not explicitly mentioned in the body of the article, yet you want the analytics profile to tag the item as relevant to some tags, you can manually add relevant tagging terms to the text field.

The Outlet and Contact fields are linked to our database.  Just begin typing the name, and you can click on the correct result from the suggestions.

Using our Custom Fields option, you can add any custom fields while adding the clip to the system. At the bottom of the screen, you will see any current Custom Fields you have enabled.

To learn more about creating Custom Fields, click here.

Once you add the news clip to the system, you will get a green pop-up confirmation on the top of your screen to confirm that the clip was successfully added. You can click on the View News Item hyperlink from this pop-up to be taken to that article.
